NCPIRG Students (NC Public Interest Research Group), a non-partisan student advocacy group, has created a step-by-step guide to help our readers register to vote in the upcoming election. If you just want to check your registration status or change an address, they’ve also got information for you too:
How to register:
-
Visit NCStudentVote.org, fill out your contact information and follow the steps provided.
-
If you have an NC State issued ID or Driver’s License: you are eligible to register completely online. Once you follow the online steps through ncstudentvote.org and the DMV page, you will be registered to vote!
-
If you do NOT have a state-issued ID or license: complete the online form, and then follow the steps to print out the registration and mail it into your local or state board of elections office.
-
Once registered, or re-registered, you will receive a voter registration card in the mail confirming your registration status within several weeks. You can also check your registration status here.
