The U.S. State Department revoked two NC State student visas on March 25, 2025. According to the New York Times on March 28, Mark Rubio estimated “that he had signed perhaps more than 300 letters revoking the visas of students, visitors and others to force their expulsion from the United States because of their foreign policy views or criminal activities.” On April 1, the Office of International Services at NC State released an announcement stating that “NC State did not initiate these terminations” and was not notified of the changes. The announcement states that there were significant concerns with the lack of communication from federal agencies and the impact that they can have on these international students.
Within the announcement were several linked resources:

Immigration and Travel Information for Current International Students
Immigration and Travel Information for Current Exchange Visitors and Student Interns
Jason Swarts, the Department Head of English, sent out an email regarding the issue to the English Undergraduate and Graduate program reminding students to “Stay Informed” as he reiterates some of the Office of International Services’ words, “Like the OIS, I also want to affirm that our department firmly believes that our international students are an important part of our department and academic programs.”
Swarts continues and highlights that the Counseling Center offers a drop in space called “International Tea Time” on Thursdays from 3:00-4:30.
