Florida has announced that it will attempt to end its state vaccination mandate, which includes children and adults Sept. 3.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said that he will ask the state legislature to repeal several requirements for children attending school, including polio, diphtheria, measles and mumps. They would be the first state ever to end mandated vaccinations.
Florida’s Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo said his department is considering overturning state-mandated vaccines like chickenpox, hepatitis B and strep infections, which the state health department mandates.
Ladapo has been a known critic of vaccination, saying, “Every last one of them is wrong and drips with disdain and slavery.”
Ladapo said, “People have a right to make their own decisions. If you don’t want to put whatever vaccines in your body, God bless you. And I hope you make an informed decision. And that’s how it should be.”
Furthermore, DeSantis announced that he is creating a state-level “Make America Healthy Again campaign.” He said that the plan will emphasize safe and nutritious food, give parents more control over their children regarding medical decisions and eliminate “medical orthodoxy that is not supported by the data.” Lt. Gov. Jay Collins and Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis head the committee for this project.
This is a developing story.
