Staff Report
Student Body President Jackie Gonzalez, a fourth-year studying political science, released a statement on the Board of Governors’ recent actions that Gonzalez calls “a potential hindrance of students’ rights.”
According to the statement, a proposed “free speech free expression” policy is in its second draft and Student Body Presidents from NC State, Appalachian State, NC A&T and Fayetteville State were asked to provide comments on the draft.
“It is in my opinion that these practices are concerning and students should be aware of these efforts that could cause potential harm should the Board of Governors choose to proceed without student voices being present and considered,” Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez also mentioned concern about “the auditing and consolidation of Title IX and Diversity offices on campuses.”
