The Afrikan American Student Advisory Council (AASAC) serves as a student extension of N.C. State’s Office of African Student Affairs. It’s purpose is to function as a representative body, as well as to exchange ideas and distribute pertinent information to all of the African American student organizations on campus.
Ultimately, according to the Multicultural Student Affairs website, AASAC works to encourage African American students and their respective organizations to: “advocate for the education of African American students about their African cultural heritage in order to promote and uplift an African centered consciousness,” “develop the leadership potential and the academic and professional development of all African American students,” and “identify and address the needs and concerns of African American students through unity action and effective communications.”
Below, you’ll find a letter of welcome from Marshall Anthony, the 2013-2014 AASAC Chair, as well as some of the many faces of the organizations that fall under AASAC.
