In a statement to The Assembly and INDY, Democratic Legislative sources briefed by the office of Gov. Josh Stein stated that CBP agents will be deployed in Raleigh on Tuesday. It has yet to be confirmed what specifically is meant by Raleigh: the city, Wake County, or the Triangle.
Raleigh crime rates have been dropping since 2024, notably decreasing violent-crime rates and property-crime rates.
Deployment of CBP agents in Raleigh follows the recent deployment of around 200 CBP agents to Charlotte, in an operation the Department of Homeland Security is calling Operation Charlotte’s Web.
In the 48 hours after the start of Operation Charlotte’s Web, agents arrested at least 130 people. CBP senior official Gregory Bovino, a leader of CBP’s immigration crackdown, claimed that agents would “hit Charlotte like a storm.”
NC State’s Young Democratic Socialists of America is hosting two “Know Your Rights” events on Nov. 19 and 20.
