You don’t miss your water until your well runs dry
all I have left are the pictures
The memories that constantly replay in my head
An endless loop I can’t seem to escape
No matter how hard I try
I can’t seem to drink it, sleep it, or sing it away
Eventually, I will have to face the pain
But for now, I’m a little thirsty
Oh how I miss my water
You were the first person I ever loved
You were the blood that ran through my veins
You were one of the only people who was supposed to love, cherish and protect me
Yet you abandoned me when I needed you most
You were the first man to break my heart and will definitely not be the last
Even though you no longer love or want me
I will carry your last name
I will carry your nose
I will carry the scar underneath my eye
I will carry all of your pain and memories
I will carry all the things you scattered on your way out
I don’t know how to remove this pain from my heart
But I know must continue
Whether I’m ready or not, life goes on
Slowly but surely the memories get weaker
Fading into existence along with you
Sometimes I can’t help but reminisce on times when my well wasn’t dry
Oh how I miss my water
