NC State University Men’s Basketball Head Coach Will Wade is leaving NC State and returning to Louisiana State University (LSU).
Will Wade released a statement on X, declaring his intent to return to LSU. “But the opportunity to return to Louisiana State University is deeply personal. It’s a chance to go home — to a place that means a great deal to me and my family.”
Wade was the head coach for LSU in 2017 and was fired in 2022 during an investigation where the NCAA brought up alleged financial rule violations during his coaching tenure. Currently, LSU is working on a deal to bring back Wade after firing their current head coach, Matt McMahon.
Wade signed a six-year contract with NC State worth $17 million on Mar. 23, 2025. A buyout at this time would cost him $5 million, and decrease to $3 million after Apr. 1.
